  • “No-Fault” Compensation for Clinical Trials

  • Cover follows the SAHPRA Guidelines for Clinical Trials, which guarantee compliance and participant safety.

  • An excess of R10,000 applies to every claim. However, participants may choose to waive the excess by paying an additional premium.

  • Coverage lasts up to 12 months and is then reviewed annually to maintain protection.

  • Additionally, this insurance gives participants peace of mind throughout the trial period.

 

  • Communication and reputational damage costs are covered up to R100,000, helping manage public relations effectively.

  • Loss of earnings for all research subjects is covered up to R100,000, ensuring participants receive fair compensation.

  • The maximum limit of indemnity is R10,000,000 in the annual aggregate, providing broad protection for the trial.

  • Furthermore, the maximum sub-limit per research subject is 10% of the indemnity limit, which ensures individual participants are appropriately covered.

  • An extended reporting period up to 36 months is available for an additional premium, giving participants long-term protection.

  • Cover depends on the number of participants and the level of risk associated with the clinical trial, therefore ensuring appropriate protection for every study.

  • Cover starts from the first date of clinical testing; therefore, participants are protected from day one.

  • Premium refunds: Although we do not normally allow cancellations, we will consider refunding all or part of the premium if the trial does not proceed or the number of participants decreases. To qualify, you must notify us within 90 days of the policy inception date. After these 90 days, no refund will be issued.
